Here I am blogging because I want to keep going and not let this tool wither and die beneath the churning wheels of the behemoth called MOTHERHOOD. How’s that drama for ya? I took a few days off to be with my kids on Spring Break. It was great, we relaxed and had fun and played but I did NO art. I had plans and intentions but they fell to the wayside in the face of great weather and the fun of being with my kids when their friends were out of town. They had no choice but to focus on me and each other (and dad when he finished his deadline)! This week is another story, we’re back to reality and my deadlines are looming. I want to submit a painting to our local art store, Pygmalion’s, who is raising money for campus artist lectures by selling a specialty paint color. The trick is that you must buy and use that new color in a work of art and enter it by April 12th, 2012. I also want to apply for a show at a local venue that encouraged me to apply when a couple of their representatives saw my paintings at a local artists showcase. I feel it is very important to follow through on this; though it seems so overwhelming to get my ducks in a row in that amount of time. Well, I did fit this quick post in right before I go to a doctor’s appointment, meet friends to have a picnic in the park with the kiddos, walk the dog, put up signs for the next neighborhood association meeting, nag the kids about homework, throw another load in the washer, get the kids to shower and to bed(it’s just a given that there’ll be several more items)……. then maybe I’ll get to work on that next painting. To all who happen to read this and think “how boring and whiney”, just remember the theme of my blog is: creating art while being a full-time working mom. So think of it as not so much a whine as, the behind- the -scenes environment for my art process!
